This is a temporary site.

Eyewitness Media Ltd is a new media company making television and film from a visual, diverse perspective, founded by Deaf writer, director, producer and journalist Charlie Swinbourne. We are based near Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire.

Whether your project is big or small, email charlie@eyewitnessmedia.co.uk and get in touch.

We have just co-produced four new TV programmes with Wellington Films. These are two episodes of the comedy sketch show Deaf Funny, and two episodes of the Found series of documentaries. All four programmes, written and directed by Charlie Swinbourne and produced by Rachel Robey, will be shown on TV this autumn. They were funded by British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust.

RTS award Charlie.jpgIn July 2018, Charlie won an RTS Yorkshire Writers award for directing the first two episodes of Deaf Funny, and having made episodes 3 and 4, is now starting production on episodes 5 and 6.

Earlier this year, we released our first commission, a short film about sexual health called The Test, for Deaf charity SignHealth. A second short film for the charity will be released soon.

We also worked with an Australian broadcaster on an online documentary about a Deaf couple living in London.

Founder Charlie Swinbourne is an award-winning director and screenwriter who has specialised in making TV and films in British Sign Language for the last decade.

Charlie is himself deaf, and grew up in a deaf family. Charlie’s work as a writer/director includes the BSL comedy sketch show Deaf Funny, the Found documentaries, the Four Deaf Yorkshiremen comedies, and hit short film The Kiss.
